NIC accreditation response made public
North Idaho College has published its response to the show cause sanction issued by its accreditor.
Show cause is the last step before loss of accreditation.
The 36-page response addresses eight areas of risk identified by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and describes what progress the college has made toward resolving those concerns.
Approximately 15 NIC employees worked together to write the response, with guidance from the NWCCU.
“We are passionate about our mission to provide affordable, high-quality education for many future generations of Idaho students,” the report’s conclusion said, in part. “We ask that the NWCCU allow us to step back from the show cause cliff where we find ourselves and place us on a lesser sanction so that we can work to resolve all risks expeditiously and return to good standing. This situation is uncharted territory for both of us and we need your help.”
A team from the NWCCU will conduct a site visit to the North Idaho College campus in late April. The accreditor is expected to make a decision about NIC’s accreditation status in July.
