Hayden Chamber seeks donations for veterans
The Hayden Chamber of Commerce is taking donations and sponsorships for the annual North Idaho Veterans Stand Down, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 at North Idaho College.
Stand Down is a nonprofit with over 27 years of experience helping homeless and struggling veterans and their families secure housing, find employment, finance educational pursuits and more.
Veterans Stand Down, Inc. has donated over $19,000 to help veterans with rent, housing, utility payments, medical bills, dental services and food.
The Stand Down event offers an opportunity to help veterans connect with organizations which provide the services needed to overcome difficult challenges. The goal of the program is to identify veterans needing service and to raise enough funds to help serve them throughout the year.
The Hayden Chamber has taken an active role in collecting and distributing food donations over the last few years.
The North Idaho Veterans Stand Down is seeking food donations for the upcoming event, including: non-perishable items such as canned food, boxed food, cases of water, toiletry items, paper products, baby food and diapers, and dog and cat food. The goal is for every Veteran at Stand Down to receive a grocery bag full to take home.
Stand Down has also begun an endowment at North Idaho College that will fund veteran scholarships in perpetuity.
