COEUR d’ALENE — After having her team suffer its first loss of the season on Tuesday, Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg used a saying from an up and coming coach..

Well, sort of.

“We talked about being a goldfish like in the show ‘Ted Lasso’ and having a short-term memory,” said Kleinberg, whose team fell at Post Falls on Tuesday. “We just wanted to play well and wanted to get our mojo back.”

Senior Allie Bowman had 16 digs and three aces and senior Emberlyn Reynolds 13 kills for the Timbewolves, who swept the Coeur d’Alene Vikings 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 in an Inland Empire League match at Lake City High.

Senior Ella Hosfeld had three kills, two aces and six assists and senior Payton Peugh four kills for Lake City.

Senior Madi Symons had 10 kills and one block, sophomore Paisley Goings eight kills, eight digs and three aces, junior Bailey Jaworski 18 assists and sophomore Gracie Legg 13 digs for the Vikings.

“Madi is always tough and Paisley had some really good swings,” Kleinberg said. “We had to be disciplined on defense and when Madi was in the back row, we had to get points and limit the damage because we knew she was going to get some when she was up front.”

Coeur d’Alene (11-3, 2-3 IEL) and Lake City (9-1, 5-1) compete in the Rocky Mountain tournament on Friday and Saturday in Meridian.
