POST FALLS — The Inland Empire League match at Post Falls High ended in a scoreless tie.

“We had a few guys that were sick, and they had a couple guys that were sick,” Post Falls coach John Mueller said. “It was both teams trying to find their rhythm, it was a tug-of-war type of match. Our issue was in the attacking third. Our defense was fine; we struggled to get the ball in the back of the net. Their keeper played well; our keeper played well.”

RATHDRUM — Caroline Gallus headed in a corner kick from Alison Clanin for the go-ahead goal in the 28th minute, and the host Hawks edged their in-district rival Tigers on senior night at Corbit Field.

Goalkeeper Malia Batman helped preserve the win for Lakeland, guiding a Timberlake shot over top of the net in the final 10 minutes.

“Best save I’ve seen her make,” Lakeland coach Kevin Rogge said. “She jumped and pushed that ball over the top; it was a real goalie save.”

Clanin scored the game’s first goal for Lakeland (4-5-0). Lucy Simpson tied in the 22nd minute for Timberlake (4-3-0).

“We got to play them on the football field, under the lights, but it did make it a narrow, shorter field for us,” Rogge said. “It kinda jammed everything up in the middle, but we did try to get it wide as much as we could.”
