COEUR d’ALENE — Nine candidates will seek election to the North Idaho College board of trustees in November.

The deadline to file for the trustee positions was 5 p.m. Thursday.

The positions up for election are those now held by Pete Broschet in Zone 5, John Goedde in Zone 2 and David Wold in Zone 1.

Two candidates will vie for one seat in Zone 1 and another two will compete for one seat in Zone 2. There are five candidates seeking election to the Zone 5 seat now held by Broschet.

Broschet, Goedde and Wold were appointed in May to serve on the board until Nov. 8 following the resignations of Michael Barnes, Ken Howard and Christie Wood.

To remain on the board they would each need to win election. Broschet is the only appointee whose name will be on the ballot.

The applicants are:

Trustee Zone 1:

Ronald Hartman, Coeur d’Alene

Tarie Zimmerman, Coeur d’Alene

Trustee Zone 2:

Brad Corkill, Cataldo

Diana Sheridan, Coeur d’Alene

Trustee Zone 5:

Mike Waggoner, Rathdrum

Timothy Plass, Rathdrum

Pete Broschet, Hauser

Geoff Newman, Rathdrum

Conrad Woodall, Rathdrum

Joseph Accursio filed to run in August for the Zone 2 seat but withdrew his candidacy Wednesday.

Zone 1 includes the southwestern part of Kootenai County, on the west side of Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Zone 2 mostly covers the eastern side of the county, on the southern side of Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Zone 5 encompasses the northwestern part of the county, including Post Falls and Rathdrum.
