The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and local groups gathered more than 5,200 pounds of donations including food, diapers, wipes, toilet paper and more from Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday. St. Marie Immaculate Catholic Church also gathered 1,165 pounds of donations for the St Maries area. Church members distributed empty red bags and returned to pick them up Thursday morning filled with contributions from the community.

"It’s a privilege to help those in our community," church member Claire Allred said. "People blew us away with their generosity."

The donations were distributed by the church and volunteers to local food banks.
