NIC ELECTION: Vote Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman

| October 28, 2022 1:00 AM

There is a campaign sign for a North Idaho College trustee candidate that reads: “Make NIC Great Again.” One would think that the word “great” refers to the summer of 2020 when NIC received such an exceptional accreditation report that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities decided that NIC’s accreditation cycle could move from every seven years to every nine years.

You would be wrong.

This candidate supports Todd Banducci’s irresponsible actions that have resulted in NIC’s accreditation being jeopardized and nearly on probation. The problems were with the board, and specifically the actions of former Chair Todd Banducci, whose actions were referenced 14 times in the NWCCU report. NWCCU only issued a warning — but cautioned that they are watching the board closely because that sanction can easily become probation. Probation would harm the Health and Nursing programs immediately. Trustees Banducci and McKenzie worked to block every action to follow NWCCU’s recommendations to remove the sanction, particularly the need for hiring a qualified, permanent president.

Banducci and others will tell you NIC’s accreditation is not in jeopardy. They are lying. You can read the reports for yourself by scrolling down on NIC’s accreditation web page.

The candidates who are committed to preserving NIC’s accreditation and making NIC great again are Pete Broschet, Brad Corkill and Tarie Zimmerman.

They will follow the recommendations to remove sanctions and work to return NIC to exemplary status.

Don’t be fooled by people trying to mislead voters.
