Robert “Bob” James Duncan, 66
Robert “Bob” James Duncan of Rathdrum, Idaho sadly passed away on October 22, 2022. He suffered an accident at home six weeks prior and fought long and hard to recover, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries Saturday.
Bob was born in Harlowton, Montana on June 13, 1956 to Jim and Norma Duncan.
He went to Montana State University where he graduated with his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1974. He worked in Nevada and Washington, where he met Rhonda in the mid-eighties. They married and moved to California and had two daughters: Cassie and Marissa. The family relocated to Rathdrum in 1991. Bob took great pride in maintaining the land he and Rhonda owned and had many animals over the years, including the girls’ 4-H pigs and horses, and the ostriches and emus Bob had a dream of raising. Bob was a great supporter of his daughters, never missing a horse show or volleyball game.
In 2001, Bob left his corporate job to start his own fiber optic company, Global FiberVision. As the business became more successful and Bob hired employees, he was able to spend more time exploring hobbies and traveling. He began golfing around ten years ago and was playing two-three times per week. He was also a loyal Gonzaga basketball fan and would travel with Rhonda to attend as many games as they could. It seemed every year Bob thought “this was the team” that would win a National Title. Hopefully this year he is right!
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family which included annual camping trips. Maui also held a special place in his heart as he took recent trips with many of his favorite people.
Bob was convicted in his faith and had no doubt where he and his loved ones would end up when their time here was complete.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Duncan of Rathdrum; daughters Cassie (Jeff) Walker of Lake Tapps, Wash. and grandsons Greyson and Cash; and Marissa (Sheldon) Kernodle of Coeur d’Alene and granddaughter Hayes with a new grandbaby expected in December. He is also survived by his mother, Norma Duncan of Billings, MT; brother, Bill (Kaye) Duncan also of Billings; and two other adult children, Cory and Kara and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Duncan, and brother, Don Duncan.
We will miss him very much.
