CONSERVATIVES: Not all ‘secret Democrats’

| October 26, 2022 1:00 AM

If you aren’t for us, you are against us.

This is a flawed line of thinking that has come to define local politics — to our detriment. For example, KCRCC ads have questioned the conservative loyalty of NIC Trustee Candidates Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman. They are not KCRCC endorsed candidates, so they must be secret Democrats, right?

Unfortunately this line of thinking leaves no room for independent thought. Can someone embrace conservative values and attract support from a broad cross-section of voters — Republican, Independent and Democrat? For Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman the answer is, of course you can, if you are working for the people. Not for a political party.

Who will Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman work for? The answer is Democrats, conservatives, moderates, Independents and most importantly NIC, not only one ideology.
