THINK ABOUT YOUR VALUES: Vote Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman for NIC

| October 23, 2022 1:00 AM

Tip O’Neill when he was Speaker of the House is famous for saying “All politics are local.” I heard some commentator say recently that nowadays all politics are national. What he meant was that now there is a nationwide movement launched by the right to challenge all elections up and down the ballot in local, state, and national offices.

Formerly nonpartisan races are now partisan — hospital boards, school boards, soil and conservation boards as well as city council and county commissioner races.

The driving motivation is to elect conservatives with a small government philosophy, which means lower taxes, fewer regulations and fewer government services, including medical care and education.

This political philosophy is accompanied by a sentiment of white supremacy and Evangelical Christianity. This movement is broad-based and very strong, the strongest since the labor movement battles at the end of the 19th century.

The battle for the Board of Trustees of NIC is the most prominent expression of this movement. What this means is that it is not enough to elect a president or senator that you like. It also means you need to elect people in all positions that share your values.

The battle is on. Vote for Zimmerman, Corkill and Broschet for trustees of North Idaho College, as well as your candidates for all other races.
