PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Peters, Max Cervi-Skinner shine at regionals

LEWISTON — Post Falls senior Annastasia Peters won her second straight 5A Region 1 girls title, finishing in 17 minutes, 13.55 seconds at the Lewis-Clark State Cross Country Course on Thursday afternoon.

Post Falls clipped Coeur d’Alene 32-34 for the girls team title after the Vikings won at regional last year.

Coeur d’Alene sophomore Max Cervi-Skinner won the boys title in 15:16.48, leading the Vikings to their second straight regional title.

Lake City’s boys also qualified for finishing runner-up with 64 points.

Qualifying individually were: Lake City sophomore Hazel Kunkel, Lake City senior Taylah Chapman and Post Falls sophomore Austin Averette.

State is back at Lewiston Oct. 29.

advances to state meet

LEWISTON — Lakeland senior Owen Elizondo-Banchiero was the lone area qualifier for the state meet, finishing seventh in 16:51.50 in the 4A Region 1 meet.

Sandpoint (boys) and Moscow (girls) claimed regional team titles.

State is Oct. 29 in Lewiston.
