LAW ENFORCEMENT: Deserve bonuses

Almost every day I see members of all our law enforcement community doing all they can to make our communities safe.

Being retired military I know that for serving in combat you receive bonus pay for dangerous work, currently $225 a month. I think it would be a great thing if such a bonus was paid to those patrolling our streets since there aren’t many jobs that are as dangerous as what these dedicated servants face every day, especially in current times. State troopers did receive a $1,000 bonus last year but I’m not aware of any other agencies that have done or are doing anything similar.

It would be a good thing for these officers if they could receive a 5 or 10% bonus every payday. I know it would be greatly appreciated and make Idaho a more police friendly state and attract more officers seeking employment.

Currently, Idaho is ranked No. 33 on the list of best police states. I think the benefit of such a bonus would outweigh the cost.
