Jackie Anne Goodwin, 76
Jackie passed away peacefully at her home in Dalton Gardens surrounded by her loving family. She endured a brief but strong and courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancers all while living with Parkinson’s disease.
Jackie was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and grew up in Liberty, Idaho, in Bear Lake County. Her family relocated to Coeur d’Alene in 1960, where she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended one year at NIJC, where she was a member of the acapella choir. She married her high school sweetheart, Elden, in 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
After they were married, Elden enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and later stationed at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., where their first child, Lisa, was born. In 1970, they then moved to Ione, Wash., where they lived and worked on the Valley View Quarter Circle Ranch where their second daughter, Tracie, was born.
In 1972, they moved to Moscow, where Elden was an ISP officer and their last daughter, Jamie, was born.
In 1981, they relocated to Rathdrum and joined Jackie’s family business, HICO (Hazel and Ivan Company); convenience stores. Throughout the time they spent running the stores, they formed several friendships that last to this day. At one point, they were operating five convenience stores throughout North Idaho.
Jackie was an active member of her church and served in many positions, including playing the piano and organ every Sunday for several years. She loved music, gardening, interior designing and could make plain and simple things beautiful (including her husband). Family and friends were her life and she ensured that the family gathered every Sunday for dinner.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Elden; her three daughters and their families: Lisa (Steve) Gay, Tracie (Frank) Smidt and Jamie (Mike) Woods; grandchildren: Ashlee (Nate), Zachary (Bailee), Cassidee, Caden, Colton, Ella and Eric; and great-grandchildren, Lakelyn and Ryker.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 477 E. Honeysuckle Ave, Hayden, Idaho. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. followed by a graveside at 11:30 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Many heartfelt thanks to the amazing angels at Hospice of North Idaho.
