NIC: Vote for Broschet, Corkill, Zimmerman

| October 16, 2022 1:00 AM

I read with interest the editorials in the The Press on Wednesday, Oct. 12. I would like to thank Jim Coleman for his detailed article about the horrible results produced by the Banducci and McKenzie crowd in the past. A quick review of their carnage; NIC accreditation in warning status from NWCCU, $500,000 settlement for wrongful termination, $750,000 increase in insurance cost, loss of over $4 million donations to the NIC Foundation plus and exodus of quality staff. This doesn’t sound like sound conservative leadership to me.

The letter written by Ann Seddon, member of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee, wishes you to believe the above is part of an accreditation scam and a lie. Really a lie? A quick review of the NWCCU website reveals that NIC is the only institution in Idaho that is in warning status. She goes on the impugn the “Downtown Crowd.” I’m not sure who these downtown folks are, does she mean those who give $100,000’s to the community annually or those employers who wish to hire qualified graduates from an accredited institution in fields critical the health and welfare of our community?

According to the KCRCC website, the three folks they are supporting for NIC Trustees have lived in Kootenai County between one to three years. Possibly that short time residency, is the reason they were all absent from the recent candidate’s forum. They were using the Joe Biden tactic of hiding in the basement so they wouldn’t get questions about NIC which they couldn’t answer properly. We all know how Biden’s election has turned out.

I urge voters who care about NIC and their excellent program of providing a wide range of educational and certification opportunities for our youth to vote for Pete Broschet, Brad Corkill and Tarie Zimmerman. Let’s get NIC back on track.
