Blow the horn!

A unique musical experience, "An Autumn Affair," will be hosted by the Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene and the Coeur d’Alene Symphony with special guests the Leavenworth Alphorns from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 23.

"An Autumn Affair" will be a benefit and educational event for families, children and adults of all ages at the conservatory, housed in the historical Hamilton House at 627 N. Government Way, Coeur d'Alene.

The performance will include an educational presentation and a chance to play an alphorn, the long horn instrument audiences will recognize from Ricola cough drop commercials.

"Coeur d’Alene is very fortunate to have the Leavenworth Alphorns accept our invitation to perform and educate our community on the beautiful alphorns," said Julienne Dance, executive director of the Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene. "We are excited to provide this opportunity to our community to enjoy its sound.”

The event will feature a short performance by a French horn quartet and the CDA Brass X Five. A strolling accordionist will keep up the Bavarian spirit.

To complete the Bavarian experience, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and cider will be served. Guests are free to bring their own beverages. Rico, the Leavenworth Alphorns celebrity mountain goat mascot, will be on site to have his photo taken with fans.

Tickets are $30 per family, $10 per student and $25 per adult. Event proceeds will support the Music Conservatory, the Coeur d’Alene Symphony and the Leavenworth Alphorn Association, all of which are nonprofit organizations.

Buy tickets online at TIX.com or at www.cdasymphony.org, or call the conservatory at 208-901-8190 or the symphony at 208-765-3833.
