April 4, 1945 — September 30, 2022

We are sad to share the passing of Sharon L. Decker. Sharon was born April 4, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Raymond Bishop Cox and Edith Mitchell Cox, and was raised with her sister, Lois in Pasadena, Calif. She attended Franklin High School and the University of Southern California. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones Friday, Sept. 30, 2022.

Her passions were animals, (especially rescue dogs), travel (her favorite place to travel outside the U.S. was Amsterdam) and spending time with family and friends.

She worked 20 plus years at Microsoft as one of the first few hundred employees and one of the first women directors. Upon retiring, to spend more time with her grandkids, she was the director of contingent staffing. Her years at Microsoft were some of her favorite times, especially the lifelong friends that she made along the way.

Sharon had an amazing sense of humor, she loved holidays and just plain laughing her way through life. She loved life, family, friends, dogs and laughing; not necessarily in that order.

She is survived by her soulmate/husband of 45 plus years, Richard Day of Priest Lake, Idaho; her daughter and best friend, Nicole Turner (Travis) of Roseville, Calif.; her bonus daughter, Megan Day-Boas (Rick) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and bonus son, Michael Day (Maribeth) of North Bend, Wash.; her grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Sedona Turner, Sean Turner and Griffin Day; her sister, Lois Eder (Glenn); her niece, Amanda Eder (Mark); and her nephew, Ray (Raybone) Eder. Sharon is also survived by her chosen family that she cherished dearly: Susie Riley (Bill), Susan Lundquist (Bill), Annette Bellah (Kevin), S. Jeffrey Decker and her loyal companion, Hank.

There will be a celebration of life for Sharon in the Seattle area during early 2023; more details to come. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in the memory of Sharon to the Humane Society ASPCA or Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83815 (www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org).

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Sharon’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
