Kurt Eugene Comer, 70

Kurt Eugene Comer, a longtime resident of Rineyville, Ky., died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the age of 70.

Born in Wallace, Idaho, on Feb.y 15, 1952. Kurt joined the United States Army in 1972 where he would attain the rank of Sergeant First Class. He would serve as a Cavalry Scout and a Drill Sergeant during his military service. After honorably retiring from the Army in Ft. Knox, Ky., Kurt pursued a second career with USA Trucking as a long-distance truck driver. Friends and family will attest that the discipline and patriotism instilled in him by the Army never left him. Mr. Comer was a proud veteran through and through; in fact three of his children would follow in his footsteps by also serving in the United States military.

Kurt was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Comer.

He leaves behind his partner, Marlene Robinson; his four children: Ellen (Holger) Kratzer, Michelle Steele, Michael (Vanessa) Steele and Melissa Jones; 10 grandchildren: Lucy Kratzer, Ryan Cerwinske, Rhiannon (Kyle) Brown, Justin Self, Matthew Steele, Isaiah Steele, Dominic Steele, Jacob Barber, Kyleigh Barber and Edward Jones Jr.; a great-granddaughter Bailey Cerwinske; a brother Dennis Comer and a sister Lynette (Gary) Watson.

A graveside service honoring the life of Kurt Comer will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160, following the service he will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Karen.
