Steven Paul Penman, 65

Steven Paul Penman passed away on Sept. 27, 2022, surrounded by his family after an 18 month battle with cancer. Steve was born Sept. 19, 1957, to Richard J. and Virginia A. Penman in Spokane, Wash.

He attended school in Rathdrum, Idaho, and worked in various places before making the big move to Alaska where he worked in the roofing industry until he retired in 2021.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He shared in his successes through his large collection of photos, mounts and memories. Some of his favorite trips included flying into the backcountry, being dropped off to hunt in remote areas and then flying out days later.

Steve is survived by his sister, Berdene Brunko, Twin Lakes, Idaho; brother, Jeff Penman, Wenatchee, Wash.; nephew, Bryce Brunko (Nicole), Twin Lakes, Idaho; niece, Lauren Petersen (Bryan), Athol, Idaho, and his three great-nephews, Ridge, River and Sutton. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Rick Penman and brother-in-law, Steven “Stub” Brunko.

A service will be held on Oct. 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St. Post Falls, Idaho. No graveside services will be held. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
