VIDEO: Freezing rain and a wintry mix falls on the Inland Northwest
Rain, snow, and ice return to the Inland Northwest Tuesday as an incoming storm sweeps the region. Winter Weather Advisories are in place in anticipation of the impacts of the storm. The worst of it will be Tuesday before slow improvements arrive in time for Thanksgiving day.
The biggest impacts will be from the freezing rain. The freezing rain likely starts just after the morning commute in central Washington. The freezing rain will potentially coat interstate 90 and highway 2 from Cle Elum to Spokane through the middle of Tuesday.
Spokane is right on the edge of it all. For Spokane and Coeur d'Alene the precipitation starts late in the 11 o'clock hour and continues through the evening. It will start with a little wintry mix and freezing rain. By the afternoon, it will be a little rain before a slushy mix takes over once again Tuesday night. Don't expect any snow accumulation in Spokane or areas to the south. Parts of North Idaho and Northern Washington will pick up 1-2 inches of snow all said and done.
Things dry out Wednesday and stay that way as temperatures climb back to near 40 degrees for Thanksgiving Day and through the weekend. Right now it does look like there is a little chance of more rain and snow over the weekend. But other than that, it's back to calm after Tuesday's storm.
