Well more than 1,500 students, family members and neighbors attended Lakesgiving at Lakes Middle School on Wednesday evening in Coeur d'Alene, making it the largest in the event's history.

Lakesgiving is an annual Thanksgiving event filled with community connections, food, family support and joy. It has been a tradition for the Lakes community for 10 years, missing only one year during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

“Not in my wildest dreams did I foresee that kind of community turnout and support for our event last night,” Lakes Principal Jeff Bengtson said. “There’s not a time in my education career where I was part of an event of this magnitude.”

Volunteers served a Thanksgiving feast in a packed cafeteria, with hundreds of leftover meals going home with families.
