ASSOCIATED PRESS: Biased, not news

| November 16, 2022 1:00 AM

In an article, on Veterans Day, the Associated Press (AP), with the headline “Future of democracy loomed large in voters minds” [on Election Day]. The second line of this “article” states that “Two years of relentless attacks on democratic traditions by President Trump and his allies left the country’s future in doubt and voters responded.”

What is a “journalist?” Defined as: one who investigates, collects and presents information as a news story; that they are relied upon to present news in a well-rounded, objective manner and not intended to sway opinions.

In no poll that was ever in the news was mention of our democracy being in peril being a concern. How about inflation, crime, the border mess?

I maintain that the true threat to our democracy is garbage such as this AP article. That quote in my first paragraph would be acceptable if the AP were actually quoting someone as having said this. However, as it does not, this belongs in the Editorial section, and not as a news story. I am so disgusted when I read articles such as this (most often by the AP). What I find as disturbing is that the Coeur d’Alene Press even prints trash such as this, presented as a “news story,” that it purports to be a “news story.” It is hardly unbiased, nor objective, and shame on The Press for blindly reprinting these “articles.”
