John Leroy 'Jack' Young, 82

John Leroy “Jack” Young, age 82, of John Day passed away Oct. 31, 2022, with his loving family by his side. A celebration of his life will be announced in the spring of 2023.

Jack was born April 28, 1940, in Kellogg, Idaho, to John and Margaret (Stockdale) Young. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Merilee Russell, in Harrison, Idaho. Together they had three children.

Jack graduated from the University of Idaho in 1968 and went on to work for Edward Hines Lumber and founded Iron Triangle.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching and his community.

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Merilee Ann Young.

Survivors include his son, Russ Young of John Day, Ore., daughters Kari Duffy of Spokane, Wash., and Collette Young of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
