DeVonne Lee Waddell, 79

| November 9, 2022 1:00 AM

On Nov. 3, 2022, DeVonne Lee Waddell left the prison of her failing body and stepped into the arms of Jesus. Since her recent leg injury, she worried about not being able to walk again or return to her home. Now she is Home. She is probably walking through heaven in jeweled barefoot sandals with her Savior and family that went on before.

DeVonne was born Aug. 18, 1943, to Wendell and Zola Belle (Bushart) Waddell in Garfield, Wash., the fifth of eight children. The family did a lot of moving and DeVonne was the only sibling to complete all 12 years of school and graduate from Mott Lincoln High School in Mott, N.D. She graduated from the School of Practical Nursing in Butte, Mont., in 1967. She worked as an LPN at St. Alexis Hospital in Bismarck, N.D., and Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

After retirement she moved to Worley, Idaho, where she enjoyed her involvement in the Town and Country Club, Worley Community Church, Friends of the Library, Senior Lunch Program and the Election Board.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Sifford (Paul) of Worley; grandson, Zachary Sifford (Reyna) of Worley; grandson, Michael Sifford (Amy) of Hayden; granddaughter, Victoria Carson (Tyler) of St. Maries; grandson, Paul Sifford Jr. of Worley; great-grandchildren: Elijah Sifford, Lilyana Sifford, Olivia Mahoney, Grayson Sifford, Ezekiel Sifford, Lincoln Carson, Kenny Carson, Rhegan Carson; sister, Joyce Hovland of Watford City, N.D.; brother, Bill Waddell of Worley; sister, Jay Waddell of Spokane; sister, Denise Floch (Walter) of Plummer; sister, Sherrie Goody (George) of Melrose, Mont.; caretaker and friend, Rose Bolyard of Plummer; her beloved French bulldog, Yahtzee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Leota Neigum and Kay Hovland.

A celebration of DeVonne’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at the Worley Community Church, 30203 S. First St., Worley, Idaho, 83876.
