ENDORSEMENTS: Broschet, Corkill, Zimmerman, Arkoosh and write-in Bob Scott

I would like to offer my recommendations for what I consider the most important choices on next Tuesday’s ballot. It may seem a bit ironic or out of place that as an old-time Kootenai County Democrat, four of my five endorsed candidates are Republicans, but I vote for the best person, not just who the party “leadership” says I have to vote for. My party doesn’t do that.

For NIC trustees, who are all conservative Republicans, I choose the three with long community records of service and leadership. Those clear choices are Tarie Zimmerman, Brad Corkill and Pete Broschet. I consider this THE most important election on the ballot.

At the state level, it is an easy choice for Tom Arkoosh for Idaho Attorney General. He will be an advocate for all of us and not just one-sided special interests and socially divisive politics. As the legal adviser for the Secretary of State, who is our chief election official, it is even more critical to have an AG who will support the rule of law.

As your former county clerk for 15 years, I have seen many county elected officials. Rarely have I seen or heard of one who apparently has underperformed like the current County Assessor. Write in Bob Scott for Assessor.

I vote a firm no on SJR102. The legislature causes quite enough grief during the regular sessions, they don’t need to be allowed free extra trips to Boise when they get the urge.
