NIC ELECTION: Vote for Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman

| November 2, 2022 1:00 AM

I write in support of Pete Broschet, Brad Corkill and Tarie Zimmerman for the North Idaho College board of trustees. The November election could be a tipping point for the future of our venerable institution by the lake.

The Northwest Commission on College and Universities recently issued a warning and placed the college board on monitoring due to noncompliance related to, among others, the failure of the board to demonstrate high ethical standards in governance and management.

This puts the college’s accreditation at risk. If lost, our dual enrollment students would no longer find these credits transferable to other colleges. What then would be the future of our outstanding nursing and dental hygiene program or the workforce training center?

Past board chair Todd Banducci was on record questioning the value of dual enrollment. His return to the chairmanship could be a substantial setback to the 1,600 students and their families whose lives, careers and futures are enriched by the dual enrollment program each year. These are serious issues. We need professional, principled and conservative trustees to lead our college. The right three for NIC are Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman. Vote these three to SAVE NIC.
