Our quality of life in Cd'A

Thanks to our caring community members and the inherent beauty of Coeur d’Alene, simply living here is a gift. And with May being National Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on this fact with gratitude and appreciation.

Gratitude for our community

So far this month, the Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber thanked our medical heroes with a luncheon celebrating local healthcare providers. Next month, we’ll host a similar celebration for some of our other hometown heroes — first responders. Our annual Public Safety Awards Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

We’ll gather at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn to recognize the dedication of these first responders to the safety of our community. This is such a special opportunity to give back to those who give tirelessly, and we hope you’ll help us show our support for them! We owe so much of our quality of life to their sacrifice.

A Healthy Quality of Life

Coretta Scott King said that “the greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members”. Our region truly embodies this ideal. We live and work among so many compassionate heroes — those we know and honor publicly, and those who perform quiet acts of heroism each day.

Among these quiet heroes is NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Health. NAMI is an organization of families, friends and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. Together, their mission is to improve the quality of life for all those affected by mental health challenges through support, education, advocacy and research.

This organization shares our commitment to a healthy quality of life for everyone in our region. After all, our surroundings directly impact our mental health & wellness. And since studies show that those who spend at least 120 minutes outside in nature will see mental health benefits from doing so [1], we’re grateful to live among such beautiful scenery!

Connections Build Community

While the natural setting works wonders for a unique and healthy quality of life, the people of our community — those quiet heroes - leave a lasting impression. From opening the door for a stranger, to donating a scholarship to young students in need — heroic acts of kindness like these make a difference in the quality of life for everyone involved.

When we collaborate together, we build a better community in which to live, thereby improving the quality of life for ourselves, our neighbors, and generations to come.

Are you new to the region? Are you looking for a way to get involved in our community? Our upcoming events are a great way to stay connected and give back!
