PREP GOLF: Coeur d'Alene nabs boys, girls 5A Region 1 titles

LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene freshman Grant Potter aced the par-3, 142-yard third hole en route to an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors at the 5A Region 1 tournament on Tuesday at Lewiston Country Club.
Coeur d’Alene won the boys regional title, its second straight, with a 306. Lewiston also qualified for state with a 335.
Coeur d’Alene junior Peyton Blood was girls medalist with a 95, leading the Viking girls to their second straight regional title with a 400. Lewiston’s girls also qualified for state with a 414.
“I could not be more proud of our squad,” first-year Coeur d’Alene girls coach Jeff Lake said. “We finally caught Lewiston as they’ve won every tournament in North Idaho outside of today and last Friday (the Lakeland Invitational) at The Links. The girls hard work and desire delivered us the district championship. We are looking forward to making a good run in the state tournament next week in Nampa.”
The top two teams and four individuals advanced to state next next Monday and Tuesday at RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa.
