Cd’A PD offers ‘citizen’s police academy’

COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Police Department will offer a free “citizen’s police academy” this spring.

The four-week program will give citizens an understanding of the Coeur d’Alene Police Department and provide opportunities for discussion with agency leaders, patrol officers and detectives.

Topics include crime trends in Coeur d’Alene, use of force, SWAT operations, K-9 and investigative processes.

Participants will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays between May 25 and June 15.

Only 20 spots are available. Applicants must be 18 or older.

Applications are available at the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, 3818 Schrieber Way.

The deadline to submit applications is May 16.
