CLEAN: Spring into action

| March 20, 2022 1:00 AM

As spring is creeping up, it’s time to remember that tourist season is as well. In recent years, more and more trash is being seen throughout town, and with the influx of new community members, and more tourists traveling here in the busy seasons, the problem will only get worse.

Our economy in Coeur d’Alene is greatly dependent on the tourists that we get every year, so this problem affects everyone. Not only will this make our town less attractive to tourists, it will make it less attractive to people like me who live here all yearlong.

A solution to the garbage around town is quite simple. Although all the trash around town is no one’s individual fault, the burden lies on us to do something about it. If whenever you see trash around town, you pick it up, not only are you doing yourself a favor, but you are now making a change within the community. When small actions are done in abundance it makes a small action big, and when everybody does their share, it can help keep Coeur d’Alene beautiful.

Community plays a big role in our town, so if we all act as a community and pick up the trash for the betterment of us all, we can make an impact on the health of our lake, and the health of the environment.
