DOG POO: Confront their masters

| March 11, 2022 1:00 AM

I feel for the folks in the Hawks Nest neighborhood and the disgusting problem of people not cleaning up after their dogs. Not only is it disgusting but it’s unsanitary.

I live on a side street in Hayden that has gotten increasingly busy with both traffic and dog walkers. I will say that what has been effective for me is when I see someone who does not follow the leash law and lets their dog come into my yard, I step out the door and ask them to please not let their dog go to the bathroom in my yard as my grandchildren play in my yard. It generally embarrasses them and they then avoid my yard.

I had a dog and trained it to go to the bathroom in one spot in my yard and would never have considered letting my dog use someone else’s yard as a toilet. I am not a dog hater but just like children. I do not love your dog like you do and am not happy to clean up after it.

Maybe instead of paying to have the droppings picked up, a little dog owner humiliation would work via a neighborhood watch in the Hawks Nest. I know people are reluctant to confront people anymore but it has worked for me.

Come on dog owners, use common courtesy and pick up after your dogs, as well as follow the leash laws and keep them on their leash.
