CHS students to perform with First Corps Band
U.S. Army Soldiers from America’s First Corps Band will take the stage with Coeur d’Alene High School student musicians at 7:30 Tuesday evening for the CHS Large Group Festival Preview Concert.
The Brass Quintet, from America’s First Corps Band on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., will also perform for students during the school day, connecting with America’s youth through music.
This trip to Coeur d’Alene coincides with Music in Our Schools Month, the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.
This school year, the Seattle Army Recruiting Battalion has partnered with America’s First Corps Band to tour high schools across Washington and Idaho. Students are able to hear and learn from professional musician and they are also exposed to one of the lesser-known career paths in the U.S. Army. U.S. Army musicians have the opportunity to serve their country while making music, whether it's a ceremonial performance, a concert to boost the morale of soldiers or a smaller-scale production at a local school.
“Music is a universal language, and an integral part of our nation’s history," said Lt. Col Lee Spencer Wallace, commander of the Seattle Army Recruiting Battalion. "The U.S. Army recognizes the value in connecting our youth to music education. We hope that the student musicians at Coeur d’Alene High School have not only a unique and interactive learning experience, but that they also consider the U.S. Army Bandas a future career.”
JBLM's I Corps Band produces virtual presentations for all music lovers to enjoy, as it has been on a limited in-person tour schedule.
