POST FALLS — The Post Falls Education Foundation knows how to put the fun in fundraiser — with over 85 wineries, microbreweries and restaurants bringing their very best offerings to the 25th annual Wine, Stein and Dine event.

During their first 24 years in operation, they've raised over $675,000 to support area school teachers and students.

Saturday, March 5, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Greyhound Park and Event Center, guests will enjoy hearty offerings of wine, microbrews, hard ciders, hot and cold appetizers and dessert. Tickets are $45 and include a complimentary wine glass or beer stein.

The money raised helps teachers provide teaching tools that the regular budget doesn’t cover, said board member Val Wilcox. Often this means additional books or technology.

Second-grade teacher Sarah Triphahn of Prairie View Elementary used grant money last year to purchase several communal math games.

Kevin Hauck, a sixth-grade teacher at River City Middle School, oversees the computer lab, woodshop class and coordinates the yearbook. Over the years, he's received several grants from the foundation.

Hauck has installed a 50-gallon saltwater aquarium in the classroom. He's also purchased a miter saw and a Canon Rebel camera. Most recently, he was able to purchase robotics kits that his students used to build and program their own robots.

Organizers expect about 600 guests. To purchase tickets, Wilcox recommends purchasing online at pfefwsd.org, but if they're not sold out, tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event. For further information, email Jon Wilkerson at jwilkers@sd273.com. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
