Allert named Military Honoree of the Year
COEUR d’ALENE — Lew Allert, a Vietnam veteran and active volunteer, has been named the 2022 Numerica Military Honoree of the Year. Over the past 30 years, Allert has spent more than 6,000 hours volunteering and supporting veterans in the Coeur d’Alene community.
Allert will be honored as part of the American Heroes Parade at 11 a.m. July 4, a signature event of the Coeur d’Alene Fourth of July Celebration, presented by longtime sponsor Numerica Credit Union. Organized by the Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber of Commerce, the parade kicks off a daylong festival of entertainment, vendors, inflatables, family activities, music and fireworks.
Allert is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served as a sergeant for five years stationed in San Francisco. He also spent a year in Vietnam. Passionate about giving back to organizations that support veterans, Allert volunteers locally with the Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Honor Guard and is a service officer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized for the efforts that I put forth,” Allert said. “Giving back to the Coeur d’Alene community is very important to me. I’m grateful to be Numerica’s Military Honoree of the Year.”
This is the fourth time Numerica has honored veterans of the community for their service and sacrifice in the parade. Allert will ride in style through the parade alongside Jody Azevedo, Numerica’s assistant vice president of retail for small business and member relationships.
“Numerica is proud to recognize Lew for his dedication in supporting fellow veterans,” said Azevedo. “We look forward to this parade every year and honoring those who protect our freedom. Lew is truly a light in this community.”
