ADVERTISING: Advertorial — A spine is a spine — no matter what size

Some patients wonder why I adjust children. That’s a very good question that has a very simple answer: there’s no difference between a large spine and a tiny spine. If their spine is creating nerve distress then their bodies may not operate properly, regardless of size.

The nervous system is the master controller of every function in our body as it communicates through a vast network of nerves. If those communication channels become distorted or damaged then we may experience all sorts of communication errors. What interrupts those signals is known as a spinal subluxation. “The vertebral subluxation is very real. We have documented it again and again. With this scientific documentation, no one can dispute the existence of vertebral subluxation…Vertebral Subluxation Complex changes the entire health of the body. This has been proven many times. The spine is not an isolated structure…We have proved that Vertebral Subluxation Complex causes not only structural dysfunction of the spine and adjacent tissues, but it also causes nerve dysfunction…The weight of a dime on a spinal nerve will reduce nerve transmission by as much as sixty percent.” — Dr. Chung H. Suh, PhD (Spinal Biomechanics Expert from the University of Colorado)

For babies this ineffective communication may play out as colic or irritability, an inability to suckle and breastfeed or poor sleep habits. For a child, poor nerve communication may result in developmental delays, an inability to concentrate, behavioral problems, digestive issues, asthma, and headaches to name a few.

Chiropractic may be able to help with a number of health issues, but it is not a band-aid cure for any health challenge. Our main focus is not treating or curing symptoms, our focus is ensuring the nervous system has every opportunity to function in a clear and effective manner.

Chiropractic care is based on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. We believe that by keeping the spine in alignment as a child grows, a high level of preventative care and wellness is achieved. Chiropractic care during childhood maintains a child’s structural health, which, in combination with regular pediatric care by the child’s pediatrician, promotes better overall health and wellness.

Is chiropractic care safe for children?

Yes! There have been several large-scale research studies verifying the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care for kids. The amount of force used to adjust an infant is comparable to the amount of force you use to test a ripe tomato at the grocery store. Those of you with kids know that they are certainly able to withstand a lot more pressure than that!
