Timbers Thorns at Far West Presidents Cup
PHOENIX — Three Timbers-Thorns North FC teams have advanced to today’s semifinals at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals.
The Thorns North FC 2009 girls red, the Thorns North FC 2007 girls and the Timbers North FC 2009 boys red advanced to the semis.
In all, five Timbers-Thorns North FC teams are competing at regionals. The Timbers North FC 06 boys and the Timbers North FC 07 boys red have completed play.
Thorns North FC 2009 girls red: The Thorns beat Oakdale Soccer Club of Northern California 4-2. Chloe Burkholder scored two goals for the Thorns, and Katie Kovatch and Olivia Smith scored once each. Tayla Ruchti, Burkholder and Phinalley Voigt had assists.
The Thorns play Seattle United 09 girls Tango B (Washington) in the semis today.
On Thursday, the Thorns beat Arizona Arsenal 1-0, on a goal by Olivia Smith, assisted by Ryann Blair.
Thorns North FC 2007 girls red: The Thorns beat Cal Elite of Los Angeles 3-1 behind two goals from Marisol Stosich and one goal from Grace Hatch. The Thorns took a draw, 1-1 vs Boulder City of Colorado. Grace Hatch scored on a header late to equalize.
The Thorns play in the semis today vs. the Northern Utah United Royalty 07 girls Clements.
Timbers North FC 2009 boys red: The Timbers finished as the wild card after group play and advance to the semis today vs. Phoenix Rising Youth Soccer PRFC West.
Timbers North FC 06 boys: The Timbers lost to Eagles SC boys 2006 White of Southern California and to Downtown Las Vegas SC 06 gold, both by one goal. On Friday, the Timbers finished with a 1-1 draw vs. Missoula Strikers Red, with Connor Jump scoring the Timbers goal.
Timbers North FC 07 boys red: The Timbers went 0-2 in group play, losing to teams from Southern California and Washington. Malachi Chaffin and Caiden Guidon earned kudos for their play in goal.
