THANKS, POLICE: For protecting our constitutional rights
I had heard there was going to be excitement in downtown Coeur d’Alene on Saturday. I had to be downtown for a commitment so while there I decided to stand for a few minutes on the corner where Northwest Boulevard turns into Sherman Avenue to get the sense of what was going on.
What did I see? I saw a group of peaceful Christian marchers walking toward The Coeur d’Alene Resort carrying their signs. There were pick-up trucks driving past me flying flags, one of which being the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag. I saw a man in camouflage walking alone carrying his rifle. I walked over to City Park and briefly watched the entertainment at the Pride event. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Two men standing nearby held signs stating “Leviticus 18:22.” There was a police presence ready to go into action if there was any violence between these disparate groups.
I found out later that 31 out-of-towners from the Patriot Front were planning on disrupting this beautiful day. We were doing fine exercising our constitutional rights without violence. A big thank you to our wonderful law enforcement agencies for handling this potential disaster in such a professional way.
