Trustee resigns from Post Falls School Board

A member of the Post Falls School Board has resigned.

Trustee Guy McAninch, who was just elected to the board in November, submitted his resignation Monday.

"I resigned due to moving out of my district," McAninch told The Press on Tuesday.

The Post Falls School District announced it is accepting applications for a qualified resident of Zone 1 who will fill the remainder of the term through December 2025. Zone 1 encompasses much of the west and southwest of the district.

"One thing that would be really healthy for our board is to have a board member who has children in the system. Currently, we don't have that," said Trustee Michelle Lippert, who has served on the board since 1999 and has a grandchild who attends a Post Falls elementary school. "It gives the board another perspective, which I think is desperately needed. That's something I'm hoping, is that we have a candidate who does have children in the system."

She also said it is a nonpartisan position that should not be political.

Each applicant must be a registered voter in the district. A letter of interest along with a completed candidate questionnaire must be delivered to the clerk of the board at the district office, 206 W. Mullan Ave., by 4 p.m. July 12. Candidate questionnaires are available on the website or may be picked up at the district office.

A special board meeting will be held July 25 to interview candidates. The appointee will be sworn in at the regular board meeting Aug. 8.
