Bart Nelson, 75
January 8, 1947 — June 2, 2022
Bart Nelson passed away peacefully on June 2, 2022, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House surrounded by family. He was 75 years old. Bart was the oldest of eight children, born to Bart and Helen Nelson.
Bart excelled in sports from a young age, lettering in football and basketball and earning a football scholarship to Eastern Washington University. He started his own construction business that he ran successfully for 40 years prior to retirement. He worked hard and played harder. Bart was “Mr. Fix it”. There was no problem big or small that he didn’t have a solution for.
He lived life to the fullest. Whether he was racing motorcycles, skiing, snowmobiling, restoring classic cars, golfing or boating, he did it full speed ahead with a smile on his face.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Helen Nelson, as well as his siblings, Elizabeth and Barbara.
Bart is survived by his siblings: Helen, Ben (Tina), Charles, Mary Anne and John; his three children: Jason, Mark (RayAnn) and Todd Nelson; his partner of over 30 years, Mona McGhee; and their granddaughter, Carsyn Cheatham Carter; step-son, Travis Carter; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins
Bart and Mona were fortunate enough to spend their summers in Coeur d’ Alene and winter in Lake Havasu, Ariz., as it is known as a “classic car” town as well as a lake for his favorite activity, boating!
As a lifelong resident of Coeur d’ Alene, he knew everyone and there are so many people that need to say goodbye to one of the best men around.
A celebration of life will take place at Ponderosa Springs Golf Course at 4 p.m., June 18, 1291 N Galena Dr. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814
