Carol Marie (Donovan) Kelly of Hayden, Idaho, was born Nov. 8, 1953, in Oakland, Calif., to Robert D. and Bette L. Donovan. She passed away peacefully in her home July 19, 2022.

Carol grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1971, and attended Glendale Community College and North Idaho College. She used her many talents in the family business, Donovan Stained Glass Company Inc. in Glendale. Along with her parents, they were best known for their many works of art, including the Stauffer Chapel at Pepperdine University, several churches, celebrity homes, Burbank’s Carriage House, Bob’s Big Boy, Rococo’s, Shakey’s Pizza and many more.

Carol worked for Papino’s Italian Restaurant, CDA Glass and finished out her working career as a CNA at Kootenai Health. Carol was widowed on New Year’s Day 1991. Despite the struggles of being a single mother of two young girls, she never missed a Girl Scout event, Job’s Daughters function, band concert, sporting event or volunteer opportunity for her girls.

Carol enjoyed genealogy, sewing, painting, playing and teaching mah-jongg and spending time with her daughters, five granddaughters, and two cats. She loved Jesus and found joy in socializing at church and her bible study group. She was well known for her kind heart and generosity. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. and Bette L. Donovan, her husband, Howard Kelly, and numerous aunts and uncles.
