Max W. Wilson, 94
Max W. Wilson passed away at Schneidmiller House on July 13, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1928, in Arkansas City, Kan., to Robert and Wilda (Lonneke) Wilson. He was the third of four sons. Max attended school in Arkansas City, graduating in 1946. He helped local farmers doing field work until he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad laying railroad ties. Work later began at Kanotex refinery as a yard man but he was quickly promoted to head operator. In 1947, Max married Clara Barnes and they had two children, Mark and Gayle. In 1970, Max moved to Coeur d’Alene to fulfill his dream of becoming a carpenter. He married Carol Bridges in 1971. For several years he worked for Boise Cascade before being hired by Post Falls School District. This district carpenter position was created especially for him. Throughout their marriage, Max and Carol traveled extensively around the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Other trips included continents of Europe, Africa and Australia.
Max is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Mark Wilson; daughter, Gayle Stevens; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and three step-daughters, Karen (Dave) Smardo, Kathy Reynolds and Kay Sands. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church (5350 N 4th Street) in Coeur d’Alene.
