Hayden Canyon Charter announces new administrator
Hayden Canyon Charter school in Hayden announced the retirement of administrator Cynthia Lamb and the hire of new administrator Bill Rutherford.
"While we are saddened to see her (Lamb) go, we are also excited for her, and we offer our sincere appreciation and support as she embarks on this exciting new stage," said a news release.
The Hayden Canyon Charter board of directors selected Rutherford following a hiring process that attracted highly qualified candidates, the school said.
Rutherford's contract was signed and became effective July 8.
"He comes to us with a passion for the expeditionary learning model and project-based learning," said the school's announcement. "He is devoted to the success of the students he serves and looks forward to getting to know each of our staff and students."
A longtime administrator in the Coeur d'Alene School District, Rutherford was formerly principal at Fernan STEM Academy and Northwest Expedition Academy, programs he helped found.
"We look forward to the experience Bill has in the expeditionary learning model and his enthusiasm for ensuring that model is successful as Hayden Canyon Charter continues to grow and expand the education choices in our community," said the news release.
