CHS all-school reunion in the works

| July 12, 2022 1:00 AM

Once a Viking always a Viking rings true in 2022. Tradition has it that when a class has reached 55 years past graduation they organize and host an all-school reunion. This year Coeur d’Alene High School’s Class of ’72 is celebrating its 50th reunion and the Class of ’67 is serving as host class for the All-School gathering. The two classes have teamed up to share a date and a venue for the All-School reunion.

While the Class of ’72 has three days of activities planned for the first weekend of August, the Saturday, Aug. 6 Coeur d’Alene Lake cruise and evening events will be joined together at the Hayden Lake Eagles. The fun begins at 3:30 p.m. with a catered barbecue, music and reunion booklet included in the $35 ticket price. A silent auction featuring dozens of great items including trips, getaways and gift baskets, has some that are noteworthy. Renowned artist Terry Lee, CHS Class of ’67, has donated a truly magnificent original oil painting, Bison Stare. Dexter Yates and Pete Shepperd, from the Class of ’63, donated a rare Fabulous Shadows poster that’s autographed by all of the members of the iconic band. Dexter donated an even-harder-to-find 45 rpm record of the Shadows’ cover of "Walkin’ the Dog" for the silent auction. Classmate Sandy Gittle Husby now lives in Massachusetts but created two Viking Blue quilts from quilt squares made by members of the Class of ’72 that will be up for auction.
