COEUR d’ALENE — The Cardinals shot 22 of 80 from the field in a Northwest Athletic Conference loss to the Chukars at Rolly Williams Court.

NIC (6-5, 1-2 NWAC) had its first two conference games called off by COVID restrictions, winning by forfeit on Jan. 15 against Walla Walla before having to forfeit Monday’s game at Blue Mountain. In addition, NIC was without coach Korina Baker, who was in protocols.

“We were a little shorthanded and hadn’t played in 34 days,” said NIC assistant coach Sam Dowd, who filled in for Baker as coach on Saturday. “Fatigue hit us a little bit, but I’m proud of how we fought back in the second half.”

Sophomore forward Maggie Graves had 16 points and seven rebounds, freshman Xuriyah Harry eight points and eight rebounds for NIC, which is scheduled to play at Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.

“Maggie really stepped up and led us,” Dowd said. “She played well and kept us organized out there tonight. We’re excited to get the ball rolling again, get everyone back and get back rolling.”

Maunayia Harrigfeld had 15 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for Treasure Valley (6-9, 2-2).
