POST FALLS — Tristan Gentry-Nelson scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half, 10 of those in the decisive third quarter, as the St. Maries Lumberjacks pulled away after halftime to beat the Genesis Prep Jaguars 56-24 on Thursday night at The Courts at Real Life.

Coleman Ross added 12 points for St. Maries (10-2), ranked No. 3 in 2A, which led 21-18 at halftime.

“We’re banged up; we have four reserves out, and after we played last night, it wore us out,” Genesis Prep coach Lon Morast said of the second half. “They were a little more aggressive on the defensive end, and we didn’t take care of the ball as well as we should, and it snowballed from there.”

Caleb Schroeder and Ayson McCluskie scored six points each for Genesis Prep (5-7), which plays host to Wallace on Saturday to open Scenic Idaho Conference play.

St. Maries (10-2) returns to action Tuesday at Sandpoint.

“I’m so proud of these guys,” Clark Fork coach Heath Beason said. “They kept their poise. This is 100% the boys. We stayed with our game plan … and they’ve beat us I don’t know how many times in a row, and we finally had our day. I wanted this game bad. We worked hard for this one and I’ll tell you want, these kids stepped up.”
