RATHDRUM — As the only senior on Lakeland’s roster, Addie Kiefer has been counted on to deliver when it counts this season.

Senior night on Friday was no different.

Kiefer scored 11 of her 20 points in the first half and grabbed nine rebounds as the Hawks beat the Moscow Bears 44-32 in an Inland Empire League game at Hawk Court.

“Addie made some big baskets in the third quarter to help us pull away a little bit,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “It was just another great night for her. On senior night, you never know what’s going to happen with all the emotions, and she performed really well. When we needed a big basket, she came through. It was nice to see so many people in the stands cheering on a great kid.”

Landree Simon had six steals for Lakeland (5-6, 1-4 IEL), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

Lakeland limited Moscow to 13 second-half points.

“We played a little more man defense and just tried to limit our turnovers,” Seymour said. “We tried to make them work for their shots and possessions in the second half and the girls did a really good job defensively.”
