Ernest H. Klemm Jr. (87) and Vera M. Klemm (89)

| January 9, 2022 1:00 AM

Ernest H. Klemm Jr. (87) and Vera M. Klemm (89), our beloved parents, went to be with their Lord after a tragic car accident on Nov. 2, 2021.

Ernest, aka “Nick” was born in Whittier, Calif., on Nov. 6, 1932. He worked for Southern California Edison Company for 33 years as a lineman and city planner where he retired in December of 1988.

Vera was born in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, on March 22, 1932. She worked as a bookkeeper for Charm Furniture Company for many years, then became a salesclerk for Lambert Pharmacy. She loved both jobs, especially working at the pharmacy where she could talk with customers and interact with the pharmacists as she loved people and loved to visit. She retired with our dad in 1988.

Our parents married Feb. 8, 1958, and made their home in Whittier, Calif. They were married for an amazing 63 years. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1989 and spent 32 years of retirement enjoying North Idaho and the many friends they made here.

Both loved to fish and camp, so, as kids, we spent many summer vacations being hauled away from our friends to British Columbia, fishing remote lakes and camping with family friends. We are so grateful the “grandparents” continued tradition taking their grandchildren Kayley, Richard IV, Lauren, and Adele Duval, and Robyn and Matt Lieggi on many camping adventures to Priest Lake, Lake Pend Oreille and British Columbia. They so enjoyed being part of their grandchildren’s lives and rarely missed any of their sporting events, graduations or extracurricular activities.

Our parents attended Lake City Community Church in Coeur d’Alene where they enjoyed being greeters and used their many skills on mission trips for disaster victims in Texas and Alaska.

Thanks mom and dad for a wonderful life, you lived it well, and you will be missed dearly by all who knew you. Your loving children, Julie A. Duval (spouse Richard H. Duval, III) and Kathy L. Lieggi (spouse Nick W. Lieggi aka “Butch.”)

We will be celebrating their lives on May 15, 2022, at Lake City Community Church at 2 p.m.
