Earl LeRoy Carroll, 98

Earl LeRoy Carroll, 98, passed away Dec. 31, 2021, surrounded by the love of his granddaughters.

He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn. At 18, he joined the Coast Guard, spent 22 years and retired as Chief Aviation Machinist in 1964. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Earl and his wife Lorraine moved to Idaho in 1972 from California where he worked a (second career) with the United States Post Office. After moving here, he drove a school bus and worked at Avondale Golf Course. He enjoyed playing penny ante poker weekly with his poker buddies.

He is survived by his granddaughter Debbie Setter and her husband Rich, three great-grandkids, Maryland; granddaughter Tracy Hanson, Michigan; son Eddie Carroll, Arizona; daughter-in-law Linda Carroll, Minnesota ; grandchildren Holly and Jason.

He is preceded in death by wife Lorraine Carroll; daughter Marcella and son-in-law Tom Hanson; son Robin Carroll; granddaughter Sheli Hanson Ford; daughter-in-law Elaine Carroll; parents Earl and Dorothy Carroll; brother George Carroll.

There will be a military service this spring at Forest Cemetery.
