Rae Johnson, 96
Rae Johnson passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, born April 3, 1925 to William H. and Ethel (Heathershaw) Harris. After graduation from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1943, she entered St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Spokane, Wash., and graduated in 1946 as a registered nurse. She was employed in the office of Dr. Raymond Barker in Coeur d’Alene, then in hospitals in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, with time spent as a surgical nurse. Her last employment was in the Coeur d’Alene office of Dr. E.R.W. Fox until her retirement.
She married Carl A. Johnson in 1947 and they raised three children. Carl and Rae built their home which they lived in until his passing in 2004 and Rae continued to live in the home until recently, a total of 70 years. Carl and Rae loved camping, traveling with their camper to Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and much of the Northwest.
Rae enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers, sewing, knitting, reading and fishing. Her home and family were the center of her life. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; brothers, Bill Harris and Roger Harris; and sister, Merna Jones. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carlette and Larry Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sandy Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Mia and Bill Howard; grandchildren: Eric Smith, Isaac Johnson, Charity Slauson, Christy Grubb, Hannah Schmitz, Delci Whalen, and numerous great-grandchildren.
