Janet Wabs, 75

Janet Elaine Wabs, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2022. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Tampa Bay, Fla., to George and Ellamae Marlowe. Raised in Sonoma Valley, Calif., before moving to Beaverton, Ore., where she graduated from Beaverton High.

She went on to graduate from Oregon State Dental School as a dental assistant. Married Richard Wabs on April 1, 1966. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1974. It was in Coeur d’Alene where they raised their four children. Jan enjoyed all the outdoor activities North Idaho has to offer including water skiing, snow skiing, golfing, softball and tennis leagues and spent countless hours gardening.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Ellamae Marlowe; and daughter Brooke Ann Wabs. She is survived by her brother, Roger and his wife, Sherry Marlowe of Madison, Conn.; daughter Paige Gorton of Rathdrum, Idaho, Adam Wabs and his wife, Tami of Coeur d'Alene and Troy Wabs and his wife, Jenifer of Hayden, Idaho; grandchildren Nathan Smith, Holly Wabs, Aubrey Wabs, Hunter Wabs and Shayna Wabs; great-grandchildren Brynlie Smith, Jaxon Wabs and Emmett Wabs.

Jan was a sister who lifted her brother up his entire life. They were loving siblings and wonderful friends. Distance kept them apart, but they spent many hours each week on the telephone sharing their concerns, joys and laughter. Jan may not be here, but they will always have each other. A little bit of Jan will always live in Roger, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends.

As per Jan’s request, there will be no services. Celebration of life will be held with the family at a future date.
