'Over the Snow Ride' on Saturday

| February 3, 2022 1:00 AM

The Coeur d’Alene Snowmobile Club will be hosting its "Over the Snow Ride" and chili feed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

People are welcome to come out and learn more about the club that has about 80 paid members. Anyone with a tracked ATV or UTV, snowbike or snowmobile is welcome.

There will be free lunch with coffee and hot chocolate.

Meet at the Skittish Warming Hut in the Coeur d’Alenes. Parking areas are at Fernan, Fourth of July and Bunco.

“We are trying to reach more people so that we can get our voices heard as far as keeping our trails open and groomed,” wrote member Steven Cox.

Club volunteers stock the three warming sheds with wood for the winter activities and rebuild them when they are vandalized, Cox said.

He said he would love a big turnout so people can become better acquainted with the club. He's sure everyone will have fun.

“It’s like a membership drive,” he said.

Cox said he joined the club a few years ago. After buying a snowmobile, probes, shovels and beacons, he was ready and loves going out.

Riders will be venturing out during the day and sometimes cover up to 100 miles.

Trails, which lead to Sandpoint and Kellogg and beyond, offer scenic beauty. They are reported to be icy, but well groomed with good snow.
